Finally!

Baby Reed finally made it here! It was a long and crazy journey to get us both home and healthy.
So it all started out Friday afternoon when I went to my doctors appointment and my blood pressure was through the roof, 167/90 I think is what it was, so my doctor decided that it was time. So we walked downstairs and they admitted me into labor and delivery. They had to give me pills all that night to ripen my cervix, and then at 5am they started me on patossin. Soon after that I decided it was time to get the epidural. Which was VERY painful, but after it was in I was so glad that I had it. So then we waited and waited and waited. I finally dilated to a 10 at around 12am. So they decided that it was time and we were going to start pushing. I was so happy that it was almost over. Little did I know. I was extremely numb when we starting the pushing process and that is exactly how I wanted it. Well the nurse decided that I didn't need any more epidural because I was so numb and I would have the baby out very soon. So we pushed and pushed and pushed and everyone could see his head and that was it. He wasn't moving. He just stayed right there, so after 2 1/2 hours of pushing and my epidural was completely worn off. I was in tears and was ready to die. The on call doctor called my doctor and asked her what they should do. She said to stop and prep me for a c-section and she would be there momentarily. So 20 min later they wheeled me in to the OR and cut me open. When they could see him all I heard her say is he is huge! Then she said and he's stuck. His shoulders were wedged in my pelvis. He was just to big to fit through my body. She actually had to stand on the table to pull him out. Finally he was here! They brought him around and showed him to me really quick and Jake followed and watched him get cleaned up while they sowed me back up. He was born Sunday January 18th, 2009 at 2:47am, 9lbs 7oz and 22 1/2 inches long.
Since I had a c-section I had to stay in the hospital for a few extra days. We finally went home Wednesday night and were so happy to be home. Then on Sunday night I started to feel a little bit weird and kept getting cold and then hot. I told Jake to take my temp, because I thought I had a fever, sure enough I was at 103. So we called the doctor and they told us to go to the ER. Everyone knows how the ER is.. SLOW. So we got there at 6 and they took a bunch of blood, did some x-rays and a bunch of tests. Put in an IV which took 3 people and 6 pokes to get in. Finally came to the conclusion that I had a infection in my uterus, and said that they had to admit me back into the hospital. So they had to transport me back to the old hospital and admit me there so I could have the baby come there. I was so upset about going back and the baby couldn't be there unless someone was there. So luckily my mom and sister Becca were here, because they would bring him to me during the day and then take him home at night and take care of him. I am finally home again. Just got out yesterday. So we are doing good. Finally.
Here are some pictures of my cute little toad.

My goodness, you have really had a rough time of it--so sorry. But you'll definitely have to admit that little (BIG!) Reed is a keeper. He's really special. We want to wish all of you good luck. Hope you get feeling better and can be out and about really soon. Perhaps we can come and see the new little one while we are in St George over Valentines weekend. Email us your phone # or address.
